Get detailed, trustworthy advice for how to manage your image library.

Here’s the deal. EVERY SINGLE STORAGE DRIVE will die at some point in the future (yes, even SSD’s or those LaCie rugged drives with the orange bumper). To make things worse, in my experience most of these failures come with little (if any) warning. Most of time, you’ll plug in your drive that seemed perfectly normal yesterday, to find that it refuses to be read by the computer today.

No brand of hard drive, type of drive, cost of drive, or anything else can protect you from this. What can, is developing a redundant workflow that centers around storing your images and videos on multiple drives. The problem is, who really wants to take time out of their day to back things up when the number one thing we all want to do when importing new media is to look at it!

Have you ever skipped the backup process? Yeah, me too.

The problem is, losing images or videos is a terrible experience for creators and clients. Unfortunately, I’ve seen countless students and clients lose some or all of their image library simply because they weren’t following a safe and consistent image management workflow.

Contrary to popular belief, a properly designed file management workflow can be simple and automated, allowing you as the photographer or videographer to focus on creating art instead of feeling overwhelmed by the idea of getting a handle on your digital files. There are countless ways to configure a quality file management workflow and the best option for you needs to be carefully discussed.

I’ve helped many creators develop safe, automated, and fast backup systems that allow them to focus on shooting and minimize their time in front of the computer. Regardless of whether you are a photographer, videographer, Lightroom user, Mac or PC user, or anything else, I can help you stay safe from losing your media.

If you know you’re at risk of losing any of your images (or if you think you already lost them), please let me help!

Here are some common questions that I can help with:
  • I haven’t backed up my images in years and I don’t remember where to start
  • I have a backup system, but I’m not sure it’s working properly
  • I have a backup system, but it’s tedious, I want something more streamlined
  • I have no idea what a backup even is!
  • I know my images are backed up, but I want to start shooting video, how should I start?
